Common Terms and Definitions
You may hear a lot of terminology around this site and other Herpetology communities, this list should help clarify some of them in more easy to understand definitions.
incandescent light - An incandescent light bulb is essentially a visible controlled fire. These light sources produce heat and light by running an electrical current through a filament which emits particles. When the filament runs out the light bulb burn out. The benefits of incandescent light bulbs are that it's one of the purest artificial light without the use of mercury or other chemical reactions, the down side is that they are fairly energy inefficient and have a short life compared to most other light sources.
